I’m very humbled by the love and support I receive everyday from my over 9000 patients and from those who, haven’t received surgery from me but, benefit from my videos, blogs, books and social media postings.
Here’s just few of the latest testimonials we receive daily…
“You are amazing Dr. Alvarez and I have purchased and read your book. Bravo to you for being in this Industry for all the right reasons.”– Georgeann Miller
“Today is my 6 year anniversary of my gastric sleeve. Thank you to the best Doctor, Guillermo Alvarez!” – Gracie Patitucci
“There really are no words for how I feel today. I am 5 months post op, down 50+ pounds and a whole new person. The muscles I have may be TINY…. But they are starting to show! Thank you Dr. Guillermo Alvarez for my sleeve. It has given me my life back and I am so thankful for you and your team!! My journey with my sleeve had been life changing and my success has encouraged other to take control of their own weight issues. I’ve been called an Inspiration more times than I can count and THAT… Makes every single struggle I’ve faced, SO worth it!”– Charity Daigle
It’s people like Georgann, Gracie and Charity and the many others who take the time to share their experiences and tell the world what they thought of me and my team at Endobariatric.
But did you know it almost didn’t happen?
This is a story I rarely tell, but it’s important that you know.
How it began!
I had just opened my office, and I thought hanging a sign would somehow get people to take notice and come in. I waited! Day after day, I sat there twiddling my thumbs. I had no staff and no clients. Oh, man…I had to do something, I had bills to pay and no income.
As some of you know, my father, who is also a surgeon, offered me a place by his side helping his clients. I love my dad, but being a general surgeon really wasn’t my dream. I had studied bariatric surgery…that’s what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people live a healthier life free of obesity.
But there I was with no clients of my own, helping my dad with his practice. On the off hours and days I wasn’t working for my father I would spend in my office trying to figure out ways to market my bariatric services and get the phone to ring.
I didn’t have enough money to get a nice and fancy website made so I started to research and built my own slowly. I sometimes wondered what I was doing and even my father wondered what I was doing. A website for a surgeon? Nah, that’s not how it’s done. Who would trust a doctor from a website?
Then it happened!
I got a request from a gentleman who wanted to learn more about the gastric sleeve procedure. I was honored that he called and that he placed his trust in me. The day he was to arrive in San Antonio for his procedure I rented a van and hired my first employee to go pick him up.
Surgery was a success and this gentlemen went on to lose close to 100 pounds. He complimented us on the great service and for treating him like royalty.
Well that’s how it all began. Not very exciting. But that’s how it is…one client at a time. And that’s how I treat everyone…like my very first client. I give them a reason to trust me and I give each and every one of them my full attention.
It was that very first patient that changed the course of Endobariatric history. Amazingly, that was nine years ago. And to this day that same employee is still with me picking up and dropping off sleeve patients. Oh, and the picture above is my dad helping me.
Nowadays it’s more than just the website. We utilize YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, emails and good old fashion word of mouth to share the benefits of gastric sleeve surgery with the world.
